How to Jailbreak iOS 6 Tethered and install Cydia
How to Jailbreak iOS 6 Tethered and install Cydia
Apple released iOS 6 yesterday and now you can jailbreak it. Firstly, keep in mind that this is a tethered jailbreak and will work on A4 devices only. Moreover, there is no jailbreak tool at the moment that would install Cydia on iOS 6, so we will have to manually install Cydia.
- Install iOS 6 on your idevice. You will need to know the location of the IPSW firmware file and if you are using a Mac, you can find it in /Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/ if you updated using iTunes. You can download iOS 6 from here if you don’t have it.
- Connect your idevice to your computer and place it in the DFU mode.
- Download RedSn0w 0.9.13dev4.
- Run RedSn0w. Go to extras, select IPSW, select your iOS 6 firmware file and it should then identify your firmware.
- Click on back and then click on jailbreak. A dialogue box will come up with “preparing jailbreak data” followed by a page with more options. Make sure you have ‘Install SSH’ is checked and then click next.
- The iPhone will go through the jailbreak process.
- Once complete, place the idevice back into DFU mode.
- Click back, and click just boot. A pineapple logo should appear on the idevice, which means it’s a tethered boot. Once you are back on your lockscreen, you can close RedSn0w.
Installing Cydia
- On your iDevice, go to Settings, Wi-Fi, and click the arrow next to the connected Wi-Fi router. Look up your IP address for your Wi-Fi connection.
- You will also need a computer that is on the same network and with it open the terminal app.
- Write ‘ssh root@(insert your iDevice’s ip address here)’ e.g: ssh root@10.0.1.27.
- After a couple of seconds, it should connect and will ask you for your iDevice’s password. Type in “alpine”
- Once connected, you will need paste the following code into the terminal:
wget -q -O /tmp/cyinstall.sh http://downloads.kr1sis.net/cyinstall.sh && chmod 755 /tmp/cyinstall.sh && /tmp/cyinstall.sh
After a couple of minutes, your iDevice will reboot and that’s it. The installation is now complete

Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 for iPhone with the Support for iOS 5.1.1
Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 for iPhone with the Support for iOS 5.1.1
iPhone Dev Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 and this version comes with with the support for iOS 5.1.1 and few bugs fixes. Redsn0w 0.9.11b4 will jailbreak any A4 device but only tethered jailbreak so that A4 device users will face some problems while jailbreaking and installing jailbreak tweaks. RedSn0w 0.9.11 was updated to b4 before we even noticed there was a b3, so we’ve included both changelogs:
“Version 0.9.11b3 should fix the spurious “Restore failed” messages people were sometimes getting, and it behaves better with nearby devices that have wifi syncing enabled!
Version 0.9.11b4 completes the tethered JB support for 5.1.1 on A4 devices and earlier, including proper “Stitching” and “Custom” creation of NO_BB IPSWs.”
And this is a tethered jailbreak for only A4 devices users and for those who are on iOS 5.1.1.. But it is good if you downgrade it but this is only for A5 devices users like iPhone 4S and iPad 2 who are on iOS 5.1.1 and want to downgrade to iOS 5.0.1.. Top 5 Cydia Tweaks
Top 5 Cydia Tweaks
1. RecognizeMe
RecognizeMe is the first Facial Recognition security for the iPhone. Although not perfect, RecognizeMe does a pretty good job at facial recognition, given optimal conditions. RecognizeMe sits on the iPhone passcode screen, so it serves as an alternate to, rather than a replacement for the passcode.
You can download RecognizeMe 2.0 from the BigBoss repo for $2.99. Remember, this only works with iOS devices that have a front facing camera and that are jailbroken..
2. SliderWidth
Sliderwidth tweak allows you to change the width of the ‘slide to unlock’ slider width.

After you install SliderWidth on your iPhone just go to the tweak settings menu, there is a slider where you can adjust the width of the slider button at your iPhone lock-screen and below is a section for the iPad users where they can do the same on their iPads. And the most interesting thing is you can add an Apple logo on the unlock slider as well as you can add your own text on the slider.
If you are interested in this tweak then you can get it for free from Cydia store via BigBoss Repo
3. F.lux
The developers over at F.lux Software LLC have created something for the Cydia store that steps away from the standard tweaks that we have come to expect. Their f.lux package is a tweak that is designed with user visual comfort in mind and warms up the iOS device screen in an attempt to match the lighting during the evening.
The theory of the software provided by F.lux is that it isn’t visually comfortable to use a mobile device or computer under the same lighting conditions twenty four hours a day. They believe that as the external lighting conditions change, the lighting on the mobile device should also change to reflect this, which is exactly what the f.lux Cydia tweak does.
When installed, f.lux warms up the colors of the iPhone display when the sun is setting and does the reverse in the morning by returning the device to its native daylight colors. There is actually a great deal of science and research applied to this topic, with a large percentage of technology users believing the display should be about brightness rather than actual color. It has been proven that blue light is great for the bodies circadian rhythm, however in the evening it detracts the body from sleep and becomes extremely detrimental to health in the long-term.
When installed, f.lux has a few configurable preferences in Settings.app which includes being able to choose the lighting system for the evening and day time, as well being able to toggle the tweak on or off. There is also a OS X version of the f.lux software over at the official site.
F.lux is available as a free of charge download from Telesphoreo repo
and it is compatible with iOS 4.0 and above. You need Jailbreak device to install this tweak.
4. DoubleDock Tweak
DoubleDock, as you probably guessed from its name, this new jailbreak tweak allows you to have two rows of apps instead of one. Each row can take up to five applications. However, you will have to fill up the first row first before adding icons in the second row. This means that you will have to fill up the first row with five icons before you can add more icons in the second row.
If you need more icons on your dock then you might want to check other apps like InfiniDock and Springtomize 2 because DoubleDock tweak has a few drawbacks. First it doesn’t provide any room for customizations what so ever. This tweak puts a shadow whether or not you have two rows of icons. This doesn’t look very good when you only have a single row in the Dock and the most important thing is, this tweak is not available for free.
DoubleDock is available for devices running with iOS 5 or higher and is not available for the iPad. If you are interested in this jailbreak tweak you can get it for $0.99 at the Cydia store. This tweak is available through BigBoss repo.
5. NCColors Tweak
NcColors Tweak customize your iPhone notification center background by using simple RGB sliders. Just after you install NCColors on your iPhone you will be able to change and customize your iPhone’s notification center’s color, you have the ability to use Blur to make your notification center transparent.
NCColors considered as one of the best jailbreak tweaks available when it comes to changing Notification Center’s background color. The only thing that does not work well is the disable switch. Disabling didn’t actually disable the tweak, even after a respring. I hope this bug will be fixed in a future update. So if you are interested in this tweak you can get it for free from Cydia store enjoy all and happy downloading.ation: underline;”>Top 5 Cydia Tweaks
